Microwave Ablation System
Microwave ablation is a recent development in the field of hyperthermia, using image-guided ablation. The antenna is introduced into the tumor tissue, and the microwave is transmitted to the tumor tissue through the ablation antenna. Dipole molecules and proteins in the local tissue surrounding the radiating end of the antenna oscillate at extremely high frequencies, causing local intense heat. This coagulation causes nucleus and chromatin coagulation, protein coagulation, and cell chromosome abnormality, ultimately inducing cell death.
